It is something that the vast majority of male drivers have said in their lives. And usually a lot more that just once. ‘Women drivers’ is the adage that had doubtless existed since the inauguration of the automobile. It must go against the grain then, for the misogynistic masses, when they realise that for some reason, unknown to them, it is the women that live, (and drive) among us, that are afforded the luxury of cheaper insurance payments. This is due to the abundance of statistics that the insurance companies call upon, which apparently highlights one major thing. Women are a lesser insurance risk than men.
Data has been compiled and researched over many years by insurance companies, and this is what they have used in order to make the educated decision that women’s insurance premiums do not need to be as high as men’s. They are not involved in as many accidents, and the accidents that they are involved in, do not create as much damage as the accidents that men are involved in. It is also true, that women do not get charged with anywhere near as many motor related crimes. They aren’t the ones zooming past speed cameras and parking on double yellow lines. It is also a case of women b3eing better at passing driving examinations with a single attempt.
It is due to these reasons that insurance companies do not charge women the higher premiums that they charge men. It is nothing to do with the fact that women are the fairer sex, or some sort of institutionalised misandry, or anything like that. It is simply because, statically, they are the safest drivers on the road. Insurance companies do not feel that they are taking such a gamble.
This does not mean that women are better drivers though. It does not mean that a woman chosen at random is going to be better than a man chosen at random, is going to be the best. You would thinks so, but it doesn’t. It just means that overall, women are the safest, and this is why they pay a smaller premium amount than men.
